Research to Policy Engagement Initiative: Social Media, News Consumption, and Polarization

Join us for this post-election special where Ro’ee Levy, Postdoctoral Associate at MIT’s Department of Economics, will talk about his work on estimating the effects of social media news exposure on polarization.
TPP’s Research to Policy Engagement Initiative aims to to create a community of researchers who can learn, apply, and contribute to developing best practices in bridging knowledge to action on societal challenges, across experiences in different research domains. The initiative seeks to connect researchers from diverse disciplines, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in the implementation aspects of technology by creating a discussion space for technology-policy interfaces.

Our guest speaker for our final meeting of the spring semester this Friday is Prof. Leah Stokes (MIT PhD ’15), Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and affiliated with the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and the Environmental Studies Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
Please join us for a discussion of Prof. Stokes’ new book, Short Circuiting Policy: Interest Groups and the Battle over Clean Energy and Climate Policy in the American States, and about her efforts to engage with the public and policy-makers on climate change.
