    Q&A with current TPP students

On October 17, 2023 at 6:00 pm till 7:00 pm
    Online

The Technology and Policy Student Society (TPSS) is hosting a Q&A session focused on the student experience. A panel of current students will describe their experiences applying to the program, living in Cambridge, and doing research at MIT. Prospective students will have the ability to submit questions to the panel via Slido. Registration is required to receive the webinar link.

Students from historically underrepresented groups in higher education are encouraged to attend. We value diversity and strongly encourage participation from individuals from all identities and backgrounds.

Note that this panel is being run by students and is not affiliated with the TPP Admissions Committee. Consequently, students cannot answer questions assessing the qualifications of any specific candidate nor can they speak on behalf of the Admissions Committee.

How MIT students are combating racism with Python and data analysis

On September 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm till 3:00 pm
    Online

Ben Lewis TPP ’24 and Jessy Han are graduate students from MIT contributing to the ICSR project which aims to create datasets that can be accessed from a website or via python libraries. The information is using criminal justice, housing, social media, and other public data linked to areas in our society most influenced by systemic racism. The primary goals are to: a/ provide data to researchers around the globe for projects to inform policies that will enhance equity in these areas; b/ educate people interested in criminal justice, or other forms of social justice, who are unfamiliar with data science tools that could highlight and remedy these inequalities. Creating the data, and teaching people with a passion for justice on how to better use the data for analysis, and even machine learning will help create a more just future for society. Register today!
